According to plans filed with the City of Columbus last week, work should be getting underway soon for the second of two apartment buildings on Long St Downtown being built as part of Edwards Companies’ Neighborhood Launch project.
The developer filed on May 15th for building permits to begin work on the structure’s foundation.
Once underway, construction should take roughly a year to complete, according to Jeff Edwards, President of Edwards Companies.
The building, to be called “The Neilston,” will sit directly West of the existing “Normandy” apartment building on the South side of Long St between Normandy Ave and N 5th St. The two are designed to be “mirror images” of each other, with each containing 130 apartment units across five floors and underground parking.
They are part of the Neighborhood Launch development, a large-scale residential project in Downtown Columbus encompassing more than 9 blocks of former surface parking lots. Also wrapping up construction currently is the development’s “Bishops Walk II” phase of 26 brownstone condominium units along E Gay St.
