Destination Donuts Opens, North Market Close to Full Occupancy

Local favorite Destination Donuts opened this month as the North Market’s 32nd vendor, bringing the popular city-owned market very close to enjoying 100% occupancy.

Destination Donuts had hosted pop-ups at the market for several years, but as of May 8th now operates a full-time retail shop. Their space was formerly occupied by Pure Imagination Chocolatier, and is located toward the market’s Southwest corner, across from Taste of Belgium.

Owner Heather Morris has won critical acclaim for her unique take on these tasty treats, including a $10,000 prize on an episode of the Food Network’s Donut Showdown last fall. Her pop-ups have also been popular among locals at not only the North Market, but also at the Hills Market (Worthington Hills and Downtown locations) and The Market Italian Village. Flavor specialties include maple sausage, mojito, lemon triple berry, apricot pistachio, raspberry hibiscus, kiwi strawberry, and many more.

Once Little Eater Produce and Provisions opens this summer (replacing The Greener Grocer), the North Market will only have a single vacancy – space which was left empty by the closure of Expressly Market Bakery earlier this year. It isn’t expected to be that way for long however, as new businesses have quickly sprouted in recent years whenever space at the market has become available. Other recent additions include Katzinger’s Little Deli, Pistacia Vera, Hot Chicken Takeover, Little Eater, and Stauf’s Coffee Roasters.

As of this spring the North Market also has expanded hours, which are now Sunday and Monday from 10 AM – 5PM, and Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM.
